CEC will have a strong presence at the conference including five presentations by CEC staff. They include: Charlotte Principal Ivan Cooper will be moderating “Liquids Management: A Hodgepodge of Challenges” on Monday, March 29 from 3:10-4:10pm in Convention Center A2 during which CEC’s Dave Pounders and Henry Kerfoot will be presenting. Phoenix Project Manager Dave Pounders will be presenting “Liquid Waste Solidification in Theory and Practice—The Proper Implementation of Sorbent Technologies at Landfill Sites” and Phoenix Principal Henry Kerfoot will be presenting “Self-Sustaining Exothermic Reaction Effects on Leachate Quality and Quantity”. Philadelphia Vice President Tony Eith will be participating on the panel “Landfills of the Future: What Changes are Coming?” on Tuesday, March 28 from 3:30-4:30pm in Convention Center A2. Ivan Cooper will also be presenting “Leachate Treatment by Membrane Bioreactors: A General Overview and Discussion of Operational Challenges” as part of “Liquids Management: Dealing with the Nasty Stuff” on Wednesday, March 29 from 2:00-3:00pm in Convention Center A2. CAPCA Spring Meeting

The Carolinas Air Pollution Control Association (CAPCA) is made up of approximately 600 active members representing local, state, and national air pollution control agencies; a wide variety of regulated industries; environmental consulting and testing firms; equipment manufacturers; related interest groups; and an interested general public. In structure, CAPCA is a forum for communication for individuals and organizations with different perspectives on air pollution control. The CAPCA Spring technical conference is designed for engineers, plant managers, regulatory personnel, consultants, lawyers, industrial and manufacturing personnel, project managers, business executives or any other persons who face environmental issues, environmental compliance, regulations, etc. This year’s proposed agenda includes presentations on stack testing, control technologies, NAAQS Implementation Challenges, MACT and Innovative Compliance Methods, and more. Midwest Bat Working Group Meeting

WV Mine Drainage Task Force Joint Conference
Morgantown, West Virginia
The West Virginia Mine Drainage Task Force was formed in 1978 and assigned to investigate the acid mine drainage (AMD) problem associated with surface mining in central West Virginia. Since then, the Task Force has broadened its scope to include areas outside of West Virginia with many diverse mine drainage issues. With expected attendance between 400 and 500 people, over 100 presentations, and more than 40 exhibitors the WV Mine Drainage Task Force Joint Conference will be one of the largest mining, reclamation, and mine drainage meetings in the USA in 2017. Pittsburgh Project Manager Mark Maguire will present “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Survey for Year-End Mining Reclamation Estimation” on Tuesday, April 11 from 9:30-10:00am in Salon D. Pittsburgh Project Manager Craig Rockey will present “Conservation of Northern Long-eared Bat Habitat at an Aggregate Mine in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania” on Wednesday, April 12 from 1:30-2:00pm in Salon D. Pittsburgh Principal Mike Shema will present “Effects of Longwall Mining on Aquatic Resources at the Bailey Mine in Southwestern Pennsylvania” on Thursday, April 13 from 10:30-11:00am in Salon D.
