Bat Biologist / Field Technician
Here's What You'll Do:
As a Field Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will work with a team to conduct habitat assessments, mist-net surveys, and/or acoustic surveys for state and federally protected bat species. You will record and manage data collection for various projects throughout the summer survey season. By the end of the internship, technicians can expect to have a functioning understanding of bat species in the northeast United States and the methods used for presence/absence surveys. Applicants should expect to work long hours in all weather conditions. Position runs May 15th through August 15th, 2017.
Here's What You'll Need:
• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or have a Bachelor’s degree in a natural sciences field (Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology) from an accredited program with at least two years of post-secondary education.
• Ability to travel for long periods and work long hours.
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude while conducting difficult fieldwork with frequently changing schedules.
• Ability to carry heavy equipment (40 lbs) over long distances (at least 1/2 mile).
